Ocean Exploration

Anyone have a spare $60,000 collecting dust in a shoebox? I will gladly take it off your hands and use it to buy myself a private dive down to the Titanic wreck in 2012, the 100th anniversary of the disaster, with Deep Ocean Expeditions. As their website states, ‘We are currently accepting bookings for our first visit to the great ship in half a decade. * Note: this may also be one of the last Titanic diving expeditions open to private adventurers.’ Deep Ocean Expeditions is the only company with the rights to take private parties down to the wreck.

A chandelier still hangs near where the Grand Staircase once was.

Another expedition offered by Deep Ocean Expeditions that sounds really intriguing is 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, a transatlantic deep-sea expedition that they describe as ‘An epic journey across the belly of the North Atlantic. You will witness many undersea wonders, from active volcanoes to the unexplored shipwrecks, alien sea creatures and deep canyons. You will search for giant squid and marvel at strange phenomena.’ This exploration costs a little more than seeing the Titanic. $375,000, to be exact.
