Since Bowen’s birth I’ve been able to read sporadically.  Here’s what I’ve been diving into lately:

I wish I could write like Bill Bryson.  He always has many witty and intriguing things to say and says it all so well.  The title explains it all: At Home is a short but fascinating history of home life.  From the bedroom to the kitchen and all other rooms, Bryson walks the reader through the evolution of the modern home.  I’ve never been disappointed by any of Bryson’s books and this one was no exception.

I’m excited to have this book nearby after we move into our new home.  It’s actually more of a reference guide to housecleaning tips and techniques.  I know it’s just as easy to Google stuff, but I think I’ll enjoy having a cute little go-to manual like this instead.

I know there are a lot of people who really love the Domino magazine and this book, but I have to say that I wasn’t really blown away by this little guide’s contents like I thought I would be.  It does have some great and inspiring ideas, but I didn’t find it to be super unique or amazingly original.  I would, however, probably buy the book just for the charming front cover!

It took me a minute or two to actually figure out the title of this book.  I haven’t read this one yet, but it’s next on my list.  Here is an overview written by the author.

  • I have the Domino book on hold at the library and I’m picking it up tomorrow. I can’t wait to see it. The other ones look really interesting … I should probably just go add them to my library list right now!

Hey, I really love the new layout and the colors. So modern and fun! You’re getting really good at this!

  • Thanks, Emeth! I was getting tired of the old layout, so I’ve been playing around and experimenting with everything during Bowen’s nap times, haha!
