Adventure List: Parasailing and visiting Hawaii

Here are two different agenda items in one post because I don’t have a whole lot to say about parasailing.  So why not parasailing and Hawaii together?  I guess this trip will kill two birds with one stone (unless I end up parasailing somewhere else besides HI – that could very well happen…)

So first off: parasailing.  Not much to say about it… it just looks thrilling, doesn’t it?

As weird as this sounds, I would rather be looking down at the water than in the water looking up (that means no snorkeling, surfing, etc, etc).  The thought scares me to death.  Maybe I don’t know what I’m missing.

I’m not entirely sure what I’m going to do in Hawaii.  Right now I envision laying on the beach, staying at a really beautiful resort, reading, relaxing, eating and not having any kind of itinerary.  That’s what you’re suppose to do on tropical vacations, right?  I’m not even sure what islands I would like to visit.

I guess I view Hawaii as a place you visit multiple times during your life, experiencing new islands on each visit.  It’s the ultimate getaway and I foresee myself needing a ton of getaway trips in the future!

And for all you Pacific Northwesterners, Allegiant Air now offers a pretty good deal on a direct flight from Spokane to Honolulu!

Any good recommendations on what to do on a visit to Hawaii?

Eat! I’m going to give you my family’s most recent secret hole in the wall: Ailana Shave Ice. It’s behind Ala Moana Center and they make all their syrups on site. It’s amazing. Everyone will tell you to go to Matsumoto’s Shave Ice on the North Shore, which you absolutely should (Hale’iwa is WONDERFUL). But absolutely make time for Ailana!

  • Wow, both places sound amazing! My mouth is already watering. I am absolutely adding that to my list. Thanks so much for sharing!
