Before & After: Subway Tiled Kitchen

Last week I shared a little sneak at my recently tiled kitchen.  Today I’m sharing much more!  While the difference between these before and after shots is not startling, you can definitely tell that the white subway tile backsplash really brightens up the entire kitchen.

Here’s what I started with on an early Saturday morning:

Painting a laminate dresser

I posted some updated photos of our bedroom last week and mentioned that I would be dressing up our old dresser up as well.  I found it on Craigslist for $40 several months ago.  Some of the drawers were a bit scuffed and the outer part of the dresser was laminate.  But I bought it [...]

DIY: make your closet rod pretty

Happy Monday again!  How was your weekend?

I spent the past week organizing and sprucing up our bedroom closet.  One of the things I spruced up was our dark old closet rods that we hang clothes on.  It’s a very cheap and easy project and it makes your closet look 10 times prettier!

DIY: make a glass jar even prettier

Bowen and I were roaming around Hobby Lobby yesterday and found this glass jar for $2.99.  I was going to leave it as-is but then I remembered I had a bunch of hemp cord sitting in a drawer at home and decided to put it to good use.  It’s a little prettier this [...]

Nursery Reveal

It’s never *ever* this clean – Bowen usually has plenty of toys sprawled out [...]

Fun with chevrons

Who can resist chevrons in a fun turquoise color like this?

I couldn’t.  Thanks to super coupons at Hobby Lobby and their delightful selection of fabrics, I came home with 2 1/2 yards of this stuff for $14 bucks!

It was the perfect solution to uplift my dining room chairs from dingy white [...]

DIY Framed Bear Silhouette

Today I’m finally sharing the other little piece of artwork that I made for the nursery.  It was very simple to make and quite honestly I love the way it looks more than I thought I would.

I found the bear silhouette here, printed the photo, and then cut it out.  I had some [...]

DIY Nursery Artwork

I’ve never really been much of a crafty person, but in an effort to save some bucks, I’ve come up with a couple of different cheap and easy DIY projects for the nursery.

The first project was turning this $4.99 second-hand framed mirror…

…into this framed monogram.

I picked up this mirror several [...]
