Spring is in the air

The warm spring sunshine has finally arrived, friends!  We’ve been busy planting, cleaning the yard, decorating the patio and soaking up the sun.

Hope your week is going well!

March = Spring!

We’ve made it through January and February, my least favorite months of the year!  March 1 always signals the arrival of spring to me, even though we technically still have several weeks of winter left.

I love the anticipation of spring and summer.  I’m so excited to see the days get sunnier and longer.  Going [...]

Inspired by: Tropical Florida

Florida is one of my absolute favorite states to visit for a variety of different reasons.  But mostly because I adore the look of all the tropical plants found there.

Given that spring is right around the corner, here are some plant and garden ideas for adding some tropical’ness’ into your yard [...]

It’s getting warmer!

I can’t contain how excited I am for spring!  Michael is just the opposite – he can’t wait for October 1 to roll around again.  Ugg… I need to convert him to the wonder of springtime.

It warmed up a little over the weekend, so I spent some time outside cleaning up the mess that [...]

Ground cover is down

I actually put all this ground cover down a couple of weekends ago and we still haven’t gotten the bark yet! There’s been other stuff that’s come up (including me getting the flu today!) and we just haven’t had a chance to get it. Hopefully that will happen by the end of the week.

Yard repair

We’ve spent the past few weekends cleaning up the side of our house.  When we moved in, the entire north side of the yard was covered in knee-high weeds.  We’ve successfully rid ourselves of most of those weeds and are now raking up all the old bark.  I would really love to put grass in [...]

Lush and Green

The first project I’m going to try and tackle at our new home is the yard. I’ve been collecting different garden images that inspire me and it’s becoming clearer that I love lots of green. A few colorful flowers and plants will be fine, but overall I think I want it to look lush and [...]

Outdoor lights

I’ve been thinking a lot about what how we’re going to cheer up the backyard and patio at our new home. One thing I definitely want to do is add lots of outdoor lighting. There’s nothing more fun than sitting outside on warm summer evenings and pretty lights would make it even lovelier.

Off the Tourist Trail

I’ve never considered hiking (or any other physically strenuous outdoor activity for that matter) to be a travel experience.   In the past I’ve thought of it as something you do when you want to burn tons of calories and want to see some nice scenery while you’re at it.  Thankfully I’m beyond that way [...]
